HONDA MTX 125 RWF

The "Pink Piglet" An MTX 125 in disguise

The "Pink Piglet"

Well, what can I say about this one then...?

I bought this bike as a stolen recovery, and it had been pretty much gutted when it came into my hands. No panels, electrics, switchgear or lighting, but it was for sale at a good price, so I rebuilt it all and it became reborn. I also got a good price when I was having some bits and pieces powder coated during the rebuild of this bike, so it got the "Pink" treatment! Well I was going through a "Pink" phase at the time, what with the `93 YZF.

At first I was using it as a winter hack about because I still hadn't gotten round to sitting my car test yet, but it was also my main off road toy for a good few years. Not the most capable of off road bikes, but then I was never really that competent an off road rider anyway, so it was a good starter to get the feel for the dirt.

Once I bought the TTR 250, it meant that my Ex could come trail riding with me and she started using the MTX to try and get the feel for dirt riding. Just enough power to get you into trouble, but never quite enough to get back out again, but still good fun to cut your teeth on if you are a complete novice. unfortunately she was just not interested in off road riding.

Apart from the obvious cosmetic changes, I haven't really done all that much to this bike. It has a full DEP Racing pipe fitted which makes it sound like a nest full of angry wasps, and the barrel has been bored out a couple of millimeter, so the jetting has had to be altered slightly too. It has standard road legal trail tyres fitted in the picture, but as these are hopeless in the dirt, I have a second set of wheels with knobblies, to interchange when the need arises.
